How to update the firmware by operating the controller unit

Updating the controller unit

A microSD card of 32 GB or less formatted with FAT32 is required for the firmware update with sufficient free space. Updates does not support using a USB memory stick or a microSD card with a capacity greater than 32 GB.

Firmware updates do not delete settings on the device. However, some settings may not be transferred if major functions updates are included. For details, please check the relevant firmware download page.

  1. From the firmware download page, download the updater file.

  2. Confirm that the name of the file is tallylamp-core-vx.x.x.bin where x.x.x is the firmware revision.

  3. Copy tallylamp-core-vx.x.x.bin to the root directory of the microSD card (the top folder).

  4. Turn off the power of the controller unit. Unplug all cables from the controller unit.

  5. Insert the microSD card to the controller unit.

  6. Connect the controller unit to power supply.

  7. Press and hold the UP button and the DOWN button on the front of the controller unit.

  8. While pressing down the UP and the DOWN button, press and hold the power button. When Cerevo logo appears on the unit OLED display, release the power button ONLY. Keep holding the UP and the DOWN buttons.

  9. When the firmware update starts, preparing update… message will appear on the OLED display. At this time, release the UP and the DOWN buttons.

  10. During the firmware update, progress bar will be shown on the OLED display. DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER on this process.

  11. When the firmware update is completed, rebooting… message will appear on the OLED display, and then the controller unit will restart automatically. DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER YET.

  12. When the restart is complete and the controller unit’s OLED display shows the main status screen, the device is ready for use. To disconnect the power supply, please follow the shutdown operation.

Firmware update of the lamp unit is done using the controller unit’s Web UI. Connect the lamp unit to be updated and the controller unit by wired Ethernet. Firmware update cannot be done on wireless connections even if the lamp unit has a wireless feature.

  1. Open the controller’s Web UI.

  2. Find and click the gear icon located at upper right.

  3. In the Config tab, click the open button located on the right side of Lamp Firmware update, and open the update window.

    1. In the update window, you will see a list of lamp units currently connected by wire.

  4. Select the lamp unit to update. Click Update button to start the firmware update.

  5. When the firmware update is completed, lamp unit will automatically restart. Until the restart completes and a blue line is shown on the lamp, DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER OF EITHER THE CONTROLLER OR THE LAMP UNIT.
