Firmware Update Guide

About this document

Thank you for purchasing the Cerevo FlexTally Pro.

This document is a guide explaining how to update the firmware for the FlexTally Pro (hereinafter referred to as “this product”). For instructions on using this product, please refer to the online manual.

How to Update Firmware Using the Base Unit

Updating the Base Unit

Firmware updates require a microSD card with sufficient free space, 32GB or less, and formatted in FAT32. Updates cannot be performed using USB flash drives or microSD cards with a capacity greater than 32GB.

Firmware updates will not erase your Base Unit settings. However, if the update includes significant feature updates, some settings may not be carried over. For details, please check the download page for the relevant firmware.

  1. Download the updater file from the firmware download page.

  2. Make sure the updater file is named tallylamp-core-vx.x.x.bin (where x.x.x is the version you’re updating to).

  3. Copy tallylamp-core-vx.x.x.bin to the root folder (topmost folder) of the microSD card.

  4. Turn off the Base Unit power and unplug all cables.

  5. Insert the microSD card you saved the updater file into the Base Unit.

  6. While pushing and holding “Up” and “Down” buttons on the front of the Base Unit, then connect the Base Unit to a power source.

  7. When the firmware update begins, “preparing update…” will be displayed on the OLED screen. Now release the “Up” and “Down” buttons.

  8. A progress bar will be displayed on the OLED screen while the firmware update is in progress. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE POWER during this process.

  9. When the firmware update is completed, the OLED will display “rebooting…” and then the controller will automatically reboot. DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER yet.

  10. Once the reboot is completed and the main status screen appears on the OLED, the update is completed. If you wish to turn off the power, use the shutdown procedure.

Lamp Unit update

Lamp Unit updates are performed via the Base Unit’s WebUI. The Lamp Unit to be updated must be connected to the Base Unit via a wired Ethernet connection. Even if the Lamp Unit has wireless connectivity, firmware updates cannot be performed via a wireless connection.

  1. Open the Base Unit WebUI.

  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner to open the settings window.

  3. Click the “open” button to the right of “Lamp Firmware update” in the “Config” tab to open the update window.

    1. The update window will display a list of lamp(s) currently connected via wired connection.

  4. Select the Lamp Unit you wish to update. Click the “Update” button to start the update.

  5. Once the firmware update is completed, the Lamp Unit will restart. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE POWER from the Lamp Unit and the Base Unit until the restart is completed and a blue horizontal line appears on the front light of the lamp.
